Today is the unfortunately acronymable Blog Action Day 2008, everyone!
If you haven’t heard about this experiment, its mission is (if I may quote and there’s no one here to stop me): “Today thousands of bloggers will unite to discuss a single issue – poverty. We aim to raise awareness, initiate action and to shake the web!” I wonder how many feathers will get ruffled (or tailfeathers shook) in the blogosphere today? Naysayers don’t think we can change anything via writing our musings, fellow bloggers, but I hope They are wrong. I hope the proverbial butterfly effect means that everything we do has an impact on something somewhere…but then again, I believe in Little People. Take what I say with some sea salt.
Moving along, today’s Blog Action Day subject is poverty. The first thing that came to my mind when I considered this subject was that access to resources is true wealth, particularly the basics: water, food and shelter. I’m lucky enough to have regular access to all three (at least for now, praise Dow!) but I try not to take them for granted and to share what I have when I can.
Along these lines, tilti wants to promote the following concepts. And I invite you (yes you) to read up on these issues. You know you want to spend at least 15 minutes not working today. So click through!
1. Get a metal water bottle or a glass jar and drink your frigging tap water!
2. Please help reduce food waste. Tilti HATES food waste almost as much as Tilti loves food (and the Internet). That is a lot a lot. Go to wastedfood.com and learn how you can help.
3. Do you need a space wasting McMansion? No, you do not. You need a tiny house.
Peace out, b-sphere.
