In praise of Ada

Haiku for Ada Lovelace:

You had a vision

With numbers you’d make music

play eternally

Countess, as I toil into the night on my computing machine listening to the unlimited* stream of my Pandora channels with my lady-ears, I give thanks to the first computer programmer and fancy lady that you were.  Yay, math!

Additionally, big ups for having a perfectly incorrigible and possibly greatly disturbed father and yet not becoming a useless Mrs. Havisham type, wringing your hands as you wandered the moors.   And sorry about the big C and the blood-letting ‘cures’…if only you had lasted longer than your 36 years, what might you have accomplished?

Also, from a style perspective, seems like you were pretty fabulous.

* Or only 40 hrs a month

Hiatus Interruptus

Posted by tiltiblog on March 30, 2010

I don’t know how three weeks became three months became my last post was my bff’s November birthday?  Really?  But…it’s almost April Fool’s! I really don’t.

But for the three of you who stalk these pages…I’m back!

And naturally, I haven’t been offline all or really any of this time–far from it.   And I will be reporting back on the corners and nooks of the interwebs where I have whiled away my hours (besides Facebook, which, if you haven’t heard of a Facebook, just turn off your computer, blow out your candle and enjoy the blissful sleep of ignorance).

Tally ho into Year 41 of The Internet!
