Technical Difficulties

Posted by tiltiblog on January 23, 2009

Oh change came to the Internet and I, for one, was excited.  But it seems the technical difficulties that have been afflicting me, my client, their colleagues and assorted others this week have hit whitehouse.gov as well.

As the dub post put it:

‘By late evening, the vaunted new White House Web site did not offer any updated posts about President Obama‘s busy first day on the job, which included an inaugural prayer service, an open house with the public, and meetings with his economic and national security teams.

Nor did the site reflect the transparency Obama promised to deliver. “The President has not yet issued any executive orders,” it stated hours after Obama issued executive orders to tighten ethics rules, enhance Freedom of Information Act rules and freeze the salaries of White House officials who earn more than $100,000.

The site was updated for the first time last night, when information on the executive orders was added. But there were still no pool reports or blog entries.

No one could quite explain the problem — but they swore it would be fixed.’

Yikes.  Sounds like my team at work.

Well, at least we can’t say this, ‘”It is kind of like going from an Xbox to an Atari,” Obama spokesman Bill Burton said of his new digs. ‘

Guess W liked pong?

Change has come to the Internet

Posted by tiltiblog on January 20, 2009

01pm EST!

It's a new day. A new website at 12:01pm EST!

There is a new President, a new White House and a new Whitehouse.gov. Read the White House blog, find out which Cabinet postings you may have missed and oh…Hilary’s siteYow.  A little hurty.  Could use some polish.

Missed the Inaugural address?  You can read it or view video (once they have it up) here.

I have to say, I haven’t spent much time on whitehouse.gov in the last four years (after searching for and failing to find the ‘eject’ button).  But it’s so soothing now…so…blue.  I think I’ll be spending some time here.

Update:

They promised to post the inaugural in video and text here but I guess change comes to whitehouse.gov rather slowly, as in the world.  We’re waiting, guys!  Folks overseas want to see!
